PAT Testing Engineer - North Tyneside

Working for us

As an employed engineer you are required to attend clients’ sites as required in your diary, on time, and to inspect and test electrical equipment in accordance with our exacting standards, based on British Standards, the IET Code of Practice and PATTA’s Working Standards.

You will be based from home and paid for all your working day including travel time from the moment you leave home to go to the first job, until you get home at the end of the working day. Your working day ‘on jobs’ is up to 8 hours + overtime as required. If the working day covers the full 8 hours, any extra time spent travelling or completing a job (overtime) will also be paid. Most travel will be within 30 minutes of your home base, although occasional longer journeys may be required.

We pay an hourly rate depending on your experience, qualifications etc. Working an 8-hour day plus travel time, achieving targets you can potentially earn in excess of £2,500.00 per month.

During training period, you will need to use your own vehicle (or your mentor can pick you up if you’re both local to each other), and a company vehicle will be provided on completion of probation. It is recommended you have your own vehicle (with business use insurance) from starting. When using your own vehicle you will be recompensed with fuel allowance of 25p per mile.

All our engineers are required to hold the City and Guilds 2377-77, which is a requirement to pass the 6-month probation period. You will also need to pass an enhanced DBS check, and we’ll need to receive 2 postive reviews from former employers.

We provide all engineers with:

· Test equipment appropriate to the role requirements

· Tool bag and tools

· Company branded work shirts (style of your choice) and mid-layers.

· Labels for when testing

· Ongoing guidance and training

· Personal Company email account and laptop/tablet

What we expect from you – our minimum standards:

A thorough understanding of all aspects of the role and technical requirements to complete probation (it’s acceptable to not have this when starting, as full training is given)

Sending accurate job reports at end of each job, and daily data at the end of the working day, via email (you will need a computer/laptop)

Unlike most PAT employers we do not expect you to hit unachievable targets – our engineers are targeted an average of 200 to 250 items per day depending on the jobs applied and role profile.

Full training:

Full training will be given depending on your entry level experience. All our engineers are expected to operate to our high standards, which will be trained. If you are already qualified and experienced, there is opportunity to rise through the probation period quicker.

Holidays and other benefits:

· We pay all engineers’ 28 days holiday per annum including bank holidays. There is no overnight working, but you will be expected to work some weekends. We also have a Christmas shutdown period so you will not be working over the Christmas holiday – this comes out of your holiday entitlement.

· After 12 months acceptable service, you will be granted your birthday off as an extra holiday, or you can postpone it to use for another occasion.

· All engineers are enrolled into the company pension scheme.
