Who is this Course Suitable For?

This course is designed for individuals looking to become competent in portable appliance testing, a fundamental requirement for conducting PAT testing. It's tailored for both beginners and those with limited electrical experience, ensuring that all participants gain the essential knowledge and skills to ensure electrical safety in the workplace.

What's Covered in the Course?

This PAT testing course is designed to equip participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Here's a detailed breakdown of what you can expect:

Section What's Covered
Equipment Construction and Classification This section looks at how electrical shocks can occur and the preventive measures integrated into equipment construction to mitigate such risks. Participants are equipped with the knowledge to accurately differentiate between construction types, enabling them to select the correct tests and establish appropriate parameters for each type during the testing.
Visual Inspection The Visual Inspection section highlights the need for a visual inspection before doing any electrical tests. With hands-on examples, participants will learn to spot damage, faults, and environmental factors that might affect equipment safety. We also advise on how to spot fake or sub-standard electrical equipment.
Electrical Testing In this practical learning section, participants will learn how to conduct electrical tests on different types of equipment types and interpret the test results correctly.
Management This section looks at aspects of managing PAT testing effectively. Participants will learn how to determine the inspection and testing frequency based on risk assessments. The course also highlights the importance of proper record-keeping and labelling of equipment.
PAT Testing Workshop This hands-on workshop session offers participants a practical experience, allowing them to apply the knowledge gained from previous sections. Attendees will have the opportunity to practice PAT testing using testing instruments and engage in real-world scenarios, ensuring they are well-equipped to conduct PAT testing.
Final Assessment Participants will be evaluated while they carry out the inspection and testing of different items. This practical assessment aims to confirm that each delegate has fully understood and can confidently apply the principles and techniques of PAT testing that were covered throughout the day.

Certification and CPD Accreditation

This course is CPD accredited and upon successful completion, delegates will be awarded a "Certificate of Competence". This certificate is not just a testament to your proficiency in PAT testing but also holds accreditation from the CPD (Continuing Professional Development) Certification Service.
