We are looking to appoint a new PAT tester to our team.

As one of the UK’s leading providers of electrical equipment safety testing, demand for our services is high, so we are continually looking to expand our team in the North East.

The role will require you to carry out inspection and testing of electrical equipment, and produce results/reports that meet the standards of the business as well as the requirements of British Standards.

PAT engineers can work independent or as part of a team, at customer sites throughout the region. We work in all types of workplace so variety is a big benefit of the working day, meeting new people and new experiences.

What makes us different? Most PAT companies promise you high wages if you meet impossible targets – we’re more realistic. The salary we offer is the minimum you will be paid. You can earn more easily; we pay you door to door, this means from the moment you leave the house until you get home again that evening. The 8 hour working day may or may not include travel time depending on the job(s) assigned to you, so can earn more there. You will be paid mileage at 25p per mile rising to 35p after 12 months service, so again opportunity to earn more.

We pay you ‘per hour’ worked, not salary, so you earn what you work, which fairer for you and gives you more opportunity to earn more. Wages are paid on 1st working day of each month, in arrears. You manage your own timesheet.

Required Qualifications and Experience

You must be currently working as a PAT Tester
You must be qualified to City and Guilds 2377
You must have a full UK driving license and your own vehicle – mileage will be paid
Competent computer literacy skills, including understanding of Excel and Outlook; to enable generation and submission of results and reports, and for managing diary and communicating with clients.
Strong verbal communication skills, numeracy and literacy
Punctuality, flexibility and self motivated
Ability to pass an enhanced DBS check
This position is full time, with immediate start available

Salary – £12.50/hr (equivalent to £26,000.00 Salary) rising to £13.00 /hr (£27,040 salary) on completion of 6-months probation.

Further rises available based on pay scale based on period with the company and targets achieved. Our engineers average £29,000 salary. Remember we also pay fuel on top, which currently averages at £300.00 per month.

We contribute to your company pension, and provide 28 days holiday per year, including Christmas week.

We will provide you with company uniform and PPE (top half), and full testing kit. You’ll need your own vehicle, laptop, trousers and shoes.

Job Description

This is a weekend role - Saturdays and Sundays.

This is an important role in the team to carry out portable appliance testing at our portfolio of clients taking pride in working to a high standard for each customer. You will operate day to day at different customers sites, sometimes working with colleagues from the Swindon area on larger jobs. The Head Office is based in Dorcan in Swindon, used for company training/meetings and restocking where needed. Our admin team will lead customers through our booking process and you will have full access to your work schedule. You will be responsible for planning your work day, arriving on time, getting the onsite compliance forms filled out, carrying out the required assigned work and completing end of job processes.

This role would be ideal for someone who can follow a simple daily routine, who likes to operate without the need for constant supervision or oversight.

Responsibilities and Duties

Drive to and from customers premises using your company vehicle on daily basis.
Carry out portable appliance testing at various pre-booked sites.
Communicate any problems/issues that arise with both the office and the customer in a professional way.
Send job reports through to the support team on a daily basis and keep excellent administrative records.
Manage yourself on a daily basis to perform at a high level consistently.
Keep your work vehicle in serviceable condition, clean and organised and be courteous to other road users.

Pat Testers are needed in the South West for mobile roles for our client who is a large electrical compliance company

The job role is to carry out Pat Testing on various appliances at commercial sites

Candidates will need to be willing to work away from home when needed and to do some Weekend and Night works when needed (good rates and allowance is paid) and candidates must be reliable and trust worthy

It is essential that candidates have a drivers licence and reasonable ICT skills

Please note that this role can be a labour intensive role involving moving/lifting furniture and equipment, bending, kneeling under items of equipment to test and check cables/wires etc so there is a requirement to be physically fit

It is preferred that candidates have City & Guilds 2377, however this is NOT essential as full training will be given
